The metal enrichment of the intra-cluster medium (ICM), within a hierarchical structure formation scenario, is investigated using a combination of N-body+Hydro simulations and semi-analytic models of galaxy formation. We show how gas enriched at different epochs is distributed in a cluster after it has formed and are able to predict a number of observable quantities such as the radial profiles of metals from both SNe II and SN Ia, the evolution of metal content with redshift and the degree to which the metal distribution in the ICM is inhomogeneous. We discuss constraints on feedback and on the SN Ia rate that observations of metals in the ICM would imply and point out that inhomogeneities in the metal distribution resulting from the merger history of the cluster could be observable.
