The Number counts of far-ultraviolet (FUV) galaxies as a function of magnitude provide a direct statistical measure of the density and evolution of star-forming galaxies. We report on the results of measurements of the rest-frame FUV (1500Å) number counts computed from data of several fields including the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, the GOODS-North and -South fields, and the COSMOS field. These data were obtained from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Solar Blind Channel Camera (SBC) of the Advance Camera for Surveys (ACS). The number counts cover an AB magnitude range from 21-29 magnitudes. We determine our detection area and completeness as a function of magnitude with a simulated distribution of galaxies based on the GOODS-S ACS V-band image. We find these number counts to be lower than those from previous studies that used observations from HST's STIS in the HDF-N and HDF-S (Gardner et al. 2000) and the SBC in the HDF-N (Teplitz et al. 2006). The differences in the counts are likely the result of cosmic variance; our new data cover more area and more lines of sight than the previous studies. Our number counts show good agreement with the latest semi-analytical models based on dark matter "merger trees” (Gilmore et al. 2009). We also present a comparison with local FUV counts of star-forming galaxies observed with GALEX (Xu et al. 2004).
