PREVIOUS experiments at Lincoln Laboratories, M.I.T.1, California Institute of Technology2 and Jodrell Bank (to be published) to determine the angular size of the OH emission regions have used interferometers with baselines of about 0.5 km (~ 3,000 wavelengths). None of the emission sources was resolved which showed that their angular sizes were less than 20 arc secs. Between January 9 and January 27, 1967, measurements were made on a baseline of 127 km (7.0 × 105 wavelengths at 18 cm) in a direction approximately north-south (hour angle, 353.8° δ, -37.2°). This represents an increase of 200 in resolving power compared with the previous measurements.
