We earlier reported measurements of N2-broadening and shift parameters for HCN lines, along with their temperature-dependences, in the 3-μm region [1], and we have more recently conducted similar studies of air- and self-broadening in the ν2 band of H12C14N centered near 712 cm-1 [2, 3]. Since the ν2 band appears prominently in infrared spectra of Titan's atmosphere, we are now examining the temperature-dependence of HCN broadened by N2 in this spectral region. Spectra of HCN-N2 mixtures at temperatures from 211 to 300 K were obtained at high resolution (0.002-0.008 cm-1) using Fourier transform spectrometers (FTS), the McMath-Pierce FTS at the National Solar Observatory on Kitt Peak and the Bruker IFS 120HR FTS at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. A multispectrum nonlinear least squares technique is used to fit selected intervals of 30 or more spectra simultaneously to obtain the broadening and shift parameters and their temperature dependences. Line positions and intensities are also retrieved as a consistency check relative to our previous study [2].
