Odin is a Swedish built small satellite launched in Feb 2001 as a cooperative project between Sweden, Canada, Finland and France. Odin carries two instruments; a sub-mm radiometer (SMR) and Optical Spectrograph and Infra Red Imaging System (OSIRIS). Odin was built as an observatory for both astrophysical and atmospheric studies in the sub-mm region of the spectrum with particular astrophysical interest in the measurement of water and oxygen. As a consequence of this Odin's radiometer can be tuned to the strongest water vapour absorption/emission line in the radio spectrum and can therefore measure water in the earths atmosphere to altitudes greater than 85 km. In addition other lines permit us to measure water in the lower stratosphere and to obtain information on the distributions of water isotopomers such as HDO and H_2 18O. Early results and analysis of these measurements will be presented along with comparisons with model calculations.
