A method is developed for reconstructing the magnetic field components measured by a vector magnetometer aboard a spacecraft that rotates at an angular velocity not known beforehand. The magnetic data is used to establish the angular velocity of rotation with high accuracy, whereupon the magnetic field components are found from the initial orientation of the vehicle. The method is used to process magnetic field measurements in the vicinity of Mars from the Phobos-2 spacecraft. The angular velocity is determined to an accuracy of better than 0.1%.
