The method described was used to measure three components of the constant-electric-field intensity vector, using a system of double probes. Attention is given also to a transmission technique which minimized the signal measurement error. The mid-latitude measurement data are used to assess the contributions of the induced electric field, the floating potential of the probes, the electron work function, the potential distribution in the flow region about the satellite, and the resistance of the plasma envelope about the probes.
