The use of a slit-type Langmuir probe to perform direct measurements of
current-density fluctuations in a rarefied plasma is demonstrated. An
equivalent circuit of the SLP input is preseanted, and an example
involving the measurement of the current waveform and magnetic field
near the bow shock front on Oct. 8, 1985 is given.
