The measurement of solar and circumsolar radiation for application to solar energy systems that employ concentrating collectors is discussed. The solar instruments which consist of scanning telescopes mounted on a precision solar tracker, and their locations are described. The data processing capabilities which aid in the analysis of the performance of each instrument system are discussed. Recent colored filter data are shown and a comparison of circumsolar radiation data obtained at Atlanta and Barstow is given.
