Experimental results are obtained on the maximum polarization of radio waves during the vertical sounding of the ionosphere at the Rostov station. The results are found to differ from those of Khandovletov (1978). Good agreement between empirical and theoretical polarization-ellipse axis ratios was obtained. Diurnal and seasonal variations of the polarization were not detected.
