The MAXI/GSC nova alert system triggered on a flare-like event from the position consistent with the active binary system CC Eri during a scan transit at 9:23 on December 30, 2011 (MJD 55925.3910). Any source was not detected significantly (< 20 mCrab at 4-10 keV) with MAXI/GSC during the previous transit at 7:50 on December 30.
Assuming that the source fluxes are constant over the transits, the 2-4 keV and 4-10 keV fluxes are 109±32 mCrab and 126±30 mCrab, respectively, during the transit at 9:23, and 22±17 mCrab and 20±20 mCrab at 10:55.
If the source is indeed CC Eri, the detected flux at 9:23 is corresponding to the isotropic luminosity of approximately 3-4e31 erg/s, which is more than ten times higher than those of previous X-ray flares (e.g., Schmitt et al.
