Using a stepwise constant approximation for the response function, mass transfer has been calculated for a semidetached binary with the initial masses m1 = 0.8 solar mass and m2 = 0.6 solar mass. Taking into consideration nonequilibrium effects on the secondary's radius as well, it is shown that 'case A' mass transfer in a low mass binary does not necessarily lead to a contact system.
