A mass-luminosity relation for Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars based on the mass-luminosity relation of the standard model and the Eddington quartic is presented. It is shown that this mass-luminosity law explains well the recent calculations of Langer (1989). The hypothesis that the observable properties of WR stars (except WNL) depend only on their mass and surface chemical composition is discussed.
