This paper explores the steady state behavior of mass-loaded winds. The topology of the critical point that results from the slowing of the wind is a function of the local slope of the mass-loading function. Mass- loading functions that increase sufficiently rapidly with radius as well as gravitational force can cause the steady state approximation to break down. Pressure equilibrium of a mass-loaded wind with an external medium and possible transitions back to supersonic flow are discussed including the interaction of an active galactic nucleus wind with a "starburst wind."
