The NASA Dawn mission was launched in September 2007 to rendezvous with the main-belt asteroids 4 Vesta and 1 Ceres in 2011 and 2015, respectively (see Figure 1). Commissioning of the spacecraft and all instruments was successful, and Dawn is now on its way to Mars where, during a gravity assist manoeuvre a comprehensive calibration campaign of all the instruments on board will take place in February 2009.
