High resolution plates of the irregular galaxy Markarian 297 were obtained using the Piramig Image Tube at the 2 meter telescope of Pic-du-Midi Observatory. The contrast of the clumps has been improved by an adjust filtering of spatial frequencies. A detailed map giving their positions and B, R photometry is presented. The diameters of the knots range from 150 to 300 pc, therefore their dimensions are comparable to those of the clumps in Markarian 325. However, they are about 12 times less luminous. Therefore, the authors suggest that the mechanism of formation is different.
