Mid-chain branched mono- and dimethylalkanes (MMA and DMA, respectively)
are considered biomarkers for cyanobacteria. In this study, we report
the synthesis of a series of MMAs by anoxygenic phototrophic marine
Chloroflexus-like organisms (MCLOs).
