We present an overview of the Euclid Near Infrared Spectrograph (ENIS) onboard the Euclid spacecraft, under consideration by ESA for a 2017 launch date. ENIS will perform a spectroscopic survey of the sky unobstructed by the Galaxy taking R 400 spectra between 0.8 and 2micron. We illustrate the design and performance of the current baseline design, based on slitless spectroscopy, and of the slit spectroscopy option that can be implemented through Digital Micromirror Devices.
