By combining time series spectroscopy from Gemini-North with global time series photometry from the Whole Earth Telescope, we constrain the inhomogeneity of calcium across the surface of the pulsating white dwarf star G29-38. This DAVZd has a known debris disk that is accreting metals onto the star. Since the metals sink significantly faster than they mix across the surface, any inhomogeneity in the accretion process will appear as an inhomogeneity of the metals on the surface of the star. By measuring both the flux amplitude of the pulsations and the EW amplitude of Ca on G29-38, we constrain the distribution of Ca across the stellar surface using the calculations of Montgomery et al. (2008). With our observations we are able to rule-out an equatorial distribution of Ca and suggest that the Ca is accreting at the poles.
