The variation of the mean local Hubble ratio with the kinematic distance Dv, reported in an earlier paper, is compared with the predicted Malmquist bias at distance Dv. The bias is calculated as a function of the observed dispersion in absolute magnitudes given by the luminosity function of the sample, and of the dispersion in the residuals of the Tully-Fisher relation. The observed variation of the Hubble ratio is about 2.5 times the predicted variation due to the Malmquist bias at a given distance. In the range Dv ≤ 1300 km s-1 where the predicted bias in log H is essentially zero, the variation of the mean Hubble ratio is about 25 - 30 percent. The effect of the differential Malmquist bias on the type off-set between Sab-Sb and Scd-Sd in the B-band Tully-Fisher relation is found to be about 0.25 mag in the author's sample.
