A total of four main planetological structures in the northern hemisphere of Venus have been identified based on radar images transmitted from the Venera-15 and Venera-16 spacecraft. The structures include: volcanic formations; basaltic plains; tectonic dislocations; and impact craters. It is shown that the Lakshmi Planum is bordered by a broad belt of folded and discontinuous structures of tectonic origin. On the basis of the density distribution of the impact craters, the ages of the volcanic plains are estimated in the range 0.5-1.0 billion years. No traces of structural features caused by the action of liquid water were detected. On the basis of a comparison of the density distribution of impact craters on the moon, Mercury, and Venus, it is suggested that the impact craters of the Venusian uplands were annihilated after or during an intense meteoritic bombardment of the surface. Several sample Venera images of selected regions on the surface of Venus are provided.
