Image Processing: Speckle Interferometry

A review is given of main results on the problem of angular resolution increase for ground-based observations obtained at the Kharkov Astronomical Observatory since 1980. The general conception of solving this problem is formulated on the basis of the authors' original works. Several specific examples of image processing are presented including speckle interferometric measurements of red giants angular diameters and separations for binaries made with the 6-m telescope, restoration of diffraction-limited images of Vesta, the colour image of Mars with esolution 0.2″ and the image of the gravitational lens candidate QSO 2237+0305.
