A review of two-dimensional magnetometer array studies for North America, Australia, Scotland, and Africa to study induction problems is presented. The main results are summarized and significant developments in analysis, presentation, and interpretation of array data are discussed. In the area of array data analysis the use of transfer functions, hypothetical event and response surface analyses are shown to give clear pictures of conductive bodies. It is suggested that future array studies in areas where current channeling conductors have been proposed be extended to remote areas where the currents are suspected to flow. In electrically homogeneous regions under a nonuniform source field, the array data yields one-dimensional layered earth models with bounds determined by the Monte Carlo process.
