We show that the discrepancy between the observed and computed periods of the solar cycle can be eliminated by modifying the outer boundary conditions. New boundary conditions, in which the energy flux from the system is proportional to the magnetic energy density just beneath the surface, are proposed. The proportionality constant is a free parameter of our dynamo model. The dependences of the threshold dynamo number and the period of the magnetic cycle on this parameter are calculated. Nonlinear dynamo regimes are discussed.
