The magnetic braking of the core of an axisymmetric cloud whose rotation axis is parallel to the mean direction of the magnetic field is studied. It is assumed that the core is a rigid rotator and the ambient medium has a density distribution proportional to r exp -n, where r is the distance from the cloud center and n is a constant between 0 and 4. For n = 4, the angular velocity of rotation of the cloud core, Omega(cc), decreases exponentially with time. For n between 0 and 4, Omega(cc) has two components.
