We present preliminary results of a study of Cepheid variables and their environments based on Hubble Space Telescope archival images of M33, obtained in numerous bands with the Advanced Camera for Surveys and the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2. We characterize the blending and crowding in ground-based images of the same fields obtained at the WIYN 3.5-m telescope. The correction of the ground-based measurements for these systematic effects enables an improved determination of the metallicity dependence of the Cepheid Period-Luminosity relation.
