Our spectroscopic data were acquired during two observing runs at the William Herschel Telescope, in 1999 August/September and 2001 October. Between our spectroscopic runs we completed an [OIII] plus Stroemgren y imaging survey using the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) to detect additional PNe targets out to a projected radius of 12kpc. Here and throughout this paper we assume a distance of 770kpc for M31.
