Using spectrophotometry, the authors have classified M20-04 as a T Tauri star, based on the presence of strong chromospheric lines in emission. The object, found in an objective-prism survey, has the photospheric absorption spectrum of an M3 type star, with a large UV excess. The authors estimate the distance to be 170 pc, suggesting that M20-04 could be a member of the Upper Scorpius OB2 association.
