M102 is a duplicate observation of M101, an error due to Mechain. He
originally reported it in 1781 to Messier who included it on trust in
his third and final list without checking, as he also did with M101 and
M103. However, Mechain admitted his mistake in a letter to Bernoulli two
years later, and so M102 is now regarded as non-existent....
