Concepts for the manned development of the Moon include a launch and landing facility as a major component of the lunar surface infrastructure. This facility serves as a transfer point for all imported and exported goods of the lunar base. The function and possible concepts of a lunar spaceport are examined and described in a system analysis. Special importance was attached to the possibility of continuous extension of the facility to meet a fast growing traffic demand. A simulation program is presented, which is based on three different scenarios of lunar base development. This program illustrates the evolution of the lunar spaceport over an operational period of fifty years, beginning in 2005. Several aspects of planning and operation of particular lunar spaceport subsystems are discussed.
