Methods for improving the theoretical prediction of the lunar orbit are discussed. Lunar laser ranging will soon supply data far better than those available from the theory proposed by Brown (1919) and modified by Eckert, Walker, and Eckert (1966). Although several numerical integration approaches have been derived for processing lunar laser ranging data, literal or semi-literal analytical theories seem to have several important advantages over purely numerical ephemerides
