Chandra Proposal Id #03600280

Scientific paper

We propose observations of nearby galaxies, which when combined with current or planned Chandra observations, will complete the sample of Chandra observations of known non-nuclear point sources with luminosities above 2E38 erg/s in galaxies within 15 Mpc. The arcsecond resolution of Chandra is essential for unambigious identification of these sources, measurement of their x-ray properties, and for localization of the sources with sufficient accuracy to permit counterpart searches at other wavelengths. The observations proposed here will be made public immediately to encourage multiwavelength follow-up of these observations.
