A light curve study is used to obtain the real absolute magnitude, the visual absolute magnitude, and the absolute bolometric magnitude of selected Mira variables. In addition, a relation is obtained for period, spectral type, and luminosity at maximum light. This relation takes into account the molecular absorption effect of TiO in the visual spectra. Consideration is given to the visual luminosity of large amplitude red variables and to the behavior associated with statistical parallaxes.
