Computations of accessible volumes of objects in magnitude-limited emission-line samples are extended to calculate luminosity functions from the samples. The 1/Va results are developed for single and multiple samples and then extended to emission-line selected samples. The possibility of integrating additional selection effects and the expression which accounts for the finite value of the detection probability are developed in the examination of an example for a quasar sample selected by aperture spectroscopy. The adopted equivalent width distribution can then be tested to determine whether it is at variance with the actual one. The exact accessible volume of the objects selected by their emission lines can be calculated in the manner developed, and several combinations of selection functions can be incorporated.
