Published data on the integrated absolute magnitudes M(V) of clusters within 400 pc of the sun are used to determine the luminosity function for the open clusters with M(V) between -9.0 and -2.0. The results are presented in tables and graphs and analyzed. A factor-of-ten increase in the luminosity function as M(V) increased from -7.5 to -2.5 is observed, and the local surface density of clusters with M(V) less than or equal to -2.0 is estimated as 30/sq kpc.
