The distribution of plasma waves encountered during one complete traversal of the magnetosheath from the bow shock to the magnetopause is studied using data from the four Cluster satellites . It is shown that in the region adjacent to the magnetopause mirror waves dominate plasma turbulence. As the Cluster spacecraft move away from the magnetopause other plasma modes replace the mirror waves.
