A preliminary report is presented concerning sky mapping operations conducted at the University of Tasmania with the aid of the Llanherne low frequency array. A scanning system containing a computer is used. The computer is programmed to steer the telescope beam to a number of declinations with a time interval between settings such that a scan takes 5 minutes. Observations are being made at 3.6, 5.5, 8.3, and 13 MHz together with some at 16.5 MHz. The main features of the map are the discrete regions of absorption due to nearby HII regions and a band of absorption along the galactic plane.
