The Suzaku observatory developed by major international collaboration with JAXA and ISAS was put in orbit on July 10, 2005. The in-orbit performance of the X-ray CCD cameras (XIS) on Suzaku proved their good performace in the low energy (< 1keV) X-ray spectroscopy; a good energy resolution with a Gaussian-like energy speread function witha very low low-energy tail, and a large effective area, although the effective area is found to be decreasing with time. In this paper we will present the in-orbit perfomrance of low energy spectroscoy and what we can observe with Suzaku about hot gas in our galaxy and around spirals, including by a combined analysis of Chandra/XMM Newton gratings and Suzaku XIS.
