In October 1977, a large area Compton telescope was flown for the first time on a balloon. It reached an altitude of 3.5 g/cm sq rest atmosphere and stayed there for 20.5 hours. The status of data evaluation from this flight is described. First preliminary results are presented and various astronomical gamma sources are discussed. Two regions show very significant enhanced gamma ray emission: one from 8 to 15 hr universal time in the anticenter of our galaxy, the other occurs during the transit times of NGC 4151, Virgo, and Coma and is observed between 15 and 20 hr universal time.
