The low-energy behavior of the astrophysical S-factor for the direct radiative captures leading to loosely bound final states is investigated. Notorious cases, ^7Be(p, γ)^8B, ^16O(p,γ)^17F and ^20Ne(p, γ) ^21Na, are considered. We find that the binding energy, \varepsilon, and the angular orbital momentum of the final state are two crucial parameters which govern the behavior of the S-factor at E → 0. We demonstrate that the increase of the S-factor at E → 0 is not generated by the pole of the S-factor at E= -\varepsilon but rather by the nonsingular or less singular terms.
