The possibilities for the conduction of low-cost missions for the further exploration of the other planets of the solar system are examined. Low-cost planetary observer missions will be possible by taking advantage of existing spacecraft designs. Attention is given to an assessment of the applicability of earth orbiter technology for the study of other planets, mission scenarios, and a spacecraft systems analysis. The conducted analysis confirms the assertion that a wide range of planetary missions of high scientific merit can be carried out most cost effectively by virtue of the application of earth orbiter spacecraft designs.
