Universal time measurements from 1967 to 1978 were used to estimate Love number k. The spectral estimate was carried out using Fourier transformation with Tukey-Hanning's window (Andel, 1976) and using the method of maximum entropy. The time measurements were divided into intervals of three years, and the systematic differences in the constant k were determined for each interval. Results of the two methods are in good agreement and indicate that short-term changes in the earth's rotation with periods of up to one month are probably due to other dynamic factors besides tidal deformations.
