A generalization Standard Model Extension by allowing higher order derivatives in the extended Maxwell equations imply a modification of the dispersion relation and, thus, of the propagation of light, and also of the Coulomb potential which predicts shifts of energy levels in hydrogen atoms. A comparison with experiments gives estimates on the Lorentz violating terms.
