Cosmos-900 measurements of the ion concentration at a height of 400 km during the IMF reversal of 25-27 July 1979 are examined. The analysis detects a counterphase longitudinal component of latitudinal variations of the position of ionization troughs and the appearance of F-scatter in the nighttime near-equatorial region of the ionosphere with respect to the subauroral region.
