We report on long-term monitoring of the anomalous X-ray pulsar 4U 0142+61 using RXTE which has revealed a pulsed flux increase, as well as evolution of its pulse profile, on a time scale of many years. We discuss the physical origin of this unprecedented AXP behavior in the context of the magnetar model. In addition, we report on very recent activity observed in this pulsar, including multiple X-ray bursts, a timing anomaly, and a sudden pulse profile change.
