We have observed P Cygni with a spectral resolution of 12,000 in the wavelength range 4050 - 9050 A with a fiber-linked echelle spectrograph. By averaging many spectra we achieved an S/N-ratio of up to 2,000. We present a spectral atlas in the range from 4050 to 9050 A with line identifications. Apart from the dominant P Cygni-type lines pure absorption features (telluric and interstellar lines and interstellar bands) and a number of pure emission lines were identified. Two groups of pure emission lines are discernible: the forbidden lines (FeII, NiII, TiII, FeIII, NII) and lines of some SiII, FeIII, and NII multiplets which are supposedly due to a fluorescence excitation mechanism.
