Scientific paper

In situ ion probe analyses have been conducted for 23 lithophile trace elements in phosphates, clinopyroxene, plagioclase, orthopyroxene, and olivine in Gyranea, Marion, and St. Severain chondrites. The study is aimed at directly comparing measured crystal-crystal element ratios with expectations from laboratory crystal-liquid partitioning measurements and conditions and constraining processes accompanying ordinary chondrite metamorphism. The study also provides fundamental material balance data on many elements and addresses issues of element mobility and redox conditions during chondritic metamorphism.
