Results are presented of new observations, carried out at Li 6707 A, on 68 main-sequence members of the Hyades cluster with spectral types ranging from late F to and early K, and their surface lithium abundance Li/H is related to their mass, age, and initial composition. It is found that, for the sample as a whole, the observed distribution of lithium abundances is inconsistent with the hypothesis of a unique relationship between lithium abundance and mass. Moreover, is strong observational evidence for main-sequence lithium depletion when the data are compared with observations in younger clusters, even for masses that are not predicted to experience such depletion in standard stellar models.
