Linear nonadiabatic radial pulsations of R CrB models have been examined. The model parameters for the calculations, i.e. mass, chemical composition, luminosity and effective temperature, were taken from the evolutionary models of Weiss (1987). Despite the difficulties in interpreting the results, imposed by the extreme nonadiabaticity of the pulsations, the author finds that most of the R CrB models possess at least one unstable mode. The periods as well as the blue edges of the instability strips agree with observational data. The implications of the results for questions concerning R CrB stars, such as origin and mass loss, are also discussed.
