A theoretical study of hydrogen opacity is presented. The plasma chemical composition is determined under the assumption of local thermodynamical equilibrium and an occupation probability formalism. Stark-broadened line shapes are obtained in the Model Micro-field Method. The influence of these line shapes is carefully analyzed for both the monochromatic and Rosseland mean opacities. The emissivity is also calculated for the Balmer series. It is then possible to test our method by comparing our results with two experimental spectra.
